Growing a home for the endangered Regent Parrot.

Sustainability practices are common in vineyards these days. Whether it’s reducing carbon footprints or recycling water and resources, it’s all-important work.

But at Duxton Vineyards, we’ve never been satisfied with net zero. We want to contribute to the regeneration of the earth – giving something back to the ecosystem that supports us.

So, we teamed up with local government agencies to support the ‘Saving our Species’ program in 2018. Our neighbours, the endangered Regent Parrots, live around here in pretty big numbers. And we got to work in our collective mission to make that population soar.

Over four years, we’ve planted 20 different native flora species on cleared land to help with the Regent Parrots’ foraging and nesting. We’ve revegetated around 70 hectares of land so far, maintain weed and pest control, and regularly survey the area to capture the progress of the parrots’ population growth.

And if you include the benefits of more bees, flora, and other beneficial. insects, it truly is sustainability in full colour. Stay tuned on our sustainability works here.
